First: Postgraduate Programs

  • Master of Science in Molecular Biology (Coursework and Research): The first cohort commenced in March 2017, and a number of students have successfully graduated.

  • Scientific Research Programs: The Institute awards Higher Diploma, Master’s, and PhD degrees through scientific research.

Second: Funding and Research Grants

The Institute’s funding structure is based on a multi-source system to ensure the sustainability of research excellence. Core operational activities are partially funded through the budget of Nyala University. As one of the recognized Scientific Centers of Excellence accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Sudan, the Institute receives annual funding to support innovative research projects.

Furthermore, advanced research activities rely primarily on securing competitive grants from funding agencies, in addition to internally generated revenue from academic programs, specialized training course fees, and the laboratory and technical services provided by the Institute.

Third: Current Activities and Academic Programs

First: Training and Capacity Building

The Institute organizes short courses in molecular biology techniques, including:

    1. Multiple Levels: Basic, advanced, and specialized.

    2. Specialized Courses in: Molecular epidemiology, biostatistics and experimental design, and laboratory safety techniques.

    3. Specialized Courses in: Big Data and Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
