Authenticity. Modernity. Excellence.

Departments - Evaluation-Quality-and Accreditation Unit

The Unit’s work is based on an integrated system comprising four specialized and interconnected departments that operate sequentially and collaboratively toward a common goal: establishing a sustainable institutional system for quality and excellence. These departments are:

Strategic Planning Department

The Strategic Planning Department is responsible for supporting the development and review of strategic and operational plans, aligning the university’s objectives with measurable performance indicators, monitoring the implementation of these plans, and analyzing the extent to which their objectives have been achieved.

Quality Assurance and Training Department

The Quality Assurance and Training Department is responsible for promoting a culture of quality and developing manuals, policies, procedures, and standards. It also implements training and capacity-building programs aimed at strengthening institutional practices based on quality standards and the principles of continuous improvement.

Performance Evaluation and Accreditation Department

The Performance Evaluation and Accreditation Department is responsible for developing mechanisms for evaluating academic and administrative performance, measuring the extent to which established standards and indicators are achieved, preparing for the requirements of academic and institutional accreditation, and following up on improvement plans resulting from evaluation processes.

In other words, the Evaluation Department is the entity that continuously addresses five fundamental questions:

(a) What are we doing?

(b) Are we doing it well?

(c) What is the evidence?

(d) Where are the gaps?

(e) What should we improve?

From this perspective, the department’s role is not to inspect or monitor faculty members and students. Rather, its function is to measure performance, analyze results, and provide information that enables the university to improve its practices and make informed decisions. This approach is closely aligned with the philosophy adopted by the University of Cambridge, particularly in its use of student outcomes and both quantitative and qualitative data to periodically review and improve academic programs.

Documentation and Statistics Department

The Documentation and Statistics Department is responsible for collecting data and information, verifying their quality, analyzing and maintaining them, and ensuring their proper documentation. It also prepares indicators, reports, and statistical analyses that support evidence-based decision-making and provides the information required for evaluation, planning, and accreditation processes.

Through the integration of these four departments, the Unit has contributed to establishing the foundations of an institutional system for quality assurance and evaluation, enhancing awareness of the concepts of quality and accreditation, developing mechanisms for data collection and documentation, and supporting planning, monitoring, and evaluation processes. In addition, the Unit has worked to build the capacities of university personnel in the areas of quality assurance, evaluation, and institutional planning.

The Unit is also continuing its efforts to complete and further develop quality-related manuals, systems, and procedures; improve performance indicators; and strengthen practices that contribute to fulfilling accreditation requirements.

At present, the Unit continues its efforts to develop an integrated system of data and performance indicators, complete the self-evaluation processes, review and update plans, manuals, and policies, strengthen training and capacity-building programs, and link evaluation results to improvement and development plans. These efforts are intended to ensure a transition from merely meeting quality requirements to embedding quality as a sustainable institutional practice.
