The University of Nyala football team was crowned champion of the Late Al-Siddiq Hassan Al-Daw Futsal Championship, held at the Umm Dubaykerat Student Residence in Kosti, White Nile State. The tournament featured five university teams: University of Nyala, University of Zalingei, Imam Al-Mahdi University, Al-Salam University, and University of El Daein.
The championship featured an outstanding sporting atmosphere that reflected the spirit of fair competition and strengthened bonds of friendship and communication among students from the participating universities, providing an opportunity for interaction and networking alongside the sporting competition.
The University of Nyala team reached the final, where it faced the University of Zalingei. Nyala secured a 1–0 victory, deservedly claiming the championship title.
The awards ceremony was attended by the Governor of White Nile State, the State Minister of Health, the Rector of Imam Al-Mahdi University, and the Secretary-General of the National Fund for Student Welfare. The University of Nyala team was honored, along with the tournament’s top scorer, Ismail Jalba Khamis, in recognition of his outstanding performance throughout the competition.
Imam Al-Mahdi University is currently hosting several colleges of the University of Nyala as part of arrangements to accommodate its students. These include the College of Medicine, College of Nursing Sciences, College of Medical Laboratory Sciences, and College of Engineering Sciences. The initiative is part of efforts to ensure the continuation of education for University of Nyala students under the exceptional circumstances facing the country. Some of these colleges have been hosted since 2024.
The University of Nyala’s victory in the championship highlights the university and its students’ active presence across various activities and reflects the university’s commitment to supporting sports and social activities as an important part of university life and a means of strengthening communication and connections among students.
